June 26: Krishna Das and Friends
Two weeks ago my friend Jon Seskevich and I discovered that Krishna Das was doing a southeastern tour and wanted to come to the Triangle Area! Since then we have been scrambling to set this up and I am glad to say it’s all arranged:

“Kirtan means chanting — chanting the names of God, the Divine Name. The names that I chant mostly come from India and are part of the Vedic tradition. All these names are really our own true names, and they are all doors into our own true being, our deepest part.” -Krishna Das
Krishna Das has recorded eight CDs including the new “Flow of Grace” on the Sounds True label. He has taught with Ram Dass and sung for many saints and yogis in America and in India. Krishna Das has been called “an unmistakable, humbled voice, a trusted source for inspiration and practicality.” KD stays true to the path of Bhakti or Devotional Yoga, an ancient Indian tradition, while energizing the music with Western melodies to create soulful chanting accessible to all.
On a personal note I have found chanting with Krishna Das to be a memorable, profound and uplifting experience. He has got a great voice and a truly devotional spirit and as those of you who have seen him before know, when he really gets going on call and response it is so exciting — it’s actually thrilling! If you haven’t experienced it, this is your chance.
